We all remember the Xperia X10 which we reviewed only recently. But recently Sony Ericsson has announced a new Android phone from the Xperia series and it is called Xperia X8.
The latest X8 shares the similar design as the older models and in fact it is using similar user interface as the X10 Mini. Although design might be similar to the older models, X8 comes with unique hardwarespecifications. Sony Ericsson X8 comes with 3-inch capacitive touchscreen that works under 320×480 pixel resolution. As for the processor, Xperia X8 is using 600 MHz CPU that should handle most of applications easily.
This phone should provide long standby hours because it is using 1,200mAh battery. In addition, this phone is using 3.2-megapixel camera and that is capable of video recording. As for the storage, Sony Ericsson X8 comes with 2 GB SD card included but if 2 GB isn’t enough for you, you can use any other SD card because this phone supports up to 16 GB SD cards. As for network connectivity, X8 is using GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 900/2100 or UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900/2100. Of course AGPS support, Bluetooth, WiFi are included as well.
Overall, Sony Ericsson is a great phone but only flaw could be that it is using Android 1.6 that is seriously outdated. Luckily, Sony Ericsson said that all phones from Xperia series will get Android 2.1 update soon. Sony Ericsson X8 will be released in the third quarter of this year with the price of $318.
